Students will learn basic skating skills by certified Skate Canada coaches including how to move safely and maintain balance while on the ice. This program helps build confidence as skaters begin their skating journey.
Pre-CanSkate sessions are 30 minutes long held on our Olympic rink. These sessions incorporate fun games, colourful teaching aids, and incentives for the skaters to try their best and learn new skills. We pride ourselves on maintaining a safe and happy learning environment.
- Helmet: CSA approved helmets are mandatory for all Pre-CanSkaters.
- Skates: We recommend “lace-up” skates as they provide the best support, allow proper movement, and accommodate an adjustable fit. The skate’s boot must be firm, and must provide good support to the foot and ankle.
- Warm clothing: Skaters should dress warmly and comfortably in layers to enjoy their skating experience. Snow pants or nylon pants over top of layers of clothing are a good idea as they provide warmth and dryness during the session.
There are NO Learn to Skate programs active at this time due to COVID-19. Stay tuned for more updates. Contact office@canadianiceacademy.com with any questions.
When is the next session and what is the cost?
This program is for beginner skaters with little or no skating experience. Designed for children ages 3 and 4, these sessions are led by our certified Skate Canada coaches.
